Arabian horses have one less lumbar vertebrae (5 instead of the usual 6), and 17 rather than 18 pairs of ribs.
They are shorter because Arabians have one less rib than other horses and therefore have a shorter back.
They aren't. Arabs have one less rib than other breeds of horses but that is unrelated to western saddles.
not extra in some cases they may have less, but this is not always true. Arabians usually are more compact in the back area and therefore can carry more weight for longer distances than a similar size hores of another breed.
That is actually a myth. Arabians have the same number of bones as all other breeds of horses. What made people first believe that Arab horses had fewer bones was that some of the bones in the Arabian were fused together making it look like one less bone. But that can happen in any and all horse breeds and is not exclusive to the Arabian.
Arabian horses originate possibly in Egypt. They are one of the oldest breeds of horses. They were bred by Bedouins, groups of Arabs that often raided to make a living. The Bedouins bred the horses to be quick and hardy specifically for the purpose of making a quick get away after a raid. They are very tough horses and tend to be rather short, around 14-15.4 hands high. The most common coat colors for the breed are gray, chestnut and bay. On rare occasions, they are mouse gray, black, flaxen liver chestnut, and roan. Today, Arabians are commonly found performing many disciplines. These include Western Pleasure, Saddle seat, endurance, dressage, cross country, and many more.
Well all Arabians are different. Many are spirited, but are known to have strong bonds. Also Arabians are very loyal, willing, and surefooted. My Arabian is sweet, level headed, but does get excited. Arabians are VERY smart, however if the rider is not confident or the bond is not strong enough, the Arabian will take over, or sometimes lose their own confidence. Overall Arabians are one of the smartest horses, sweet, and fairly level headed :)
The Arabian.
Horses want mates. So if there are two horses and less than two mates. One won't be happy and will proceed to kick the crap out of the other one.
All breeds of horse, not just Arabians have the fastest reaction time of any animal, domestic or wild. This has been their main survival tool since they became single toed grazers. There are other things that make them different, but this is the main one.
Pick a name that has something to do with your background, heritage, or has a special meaning to you, or one that represent the kind of service or horses you have. Some names that I made up are: Elegant Pintabians Society Surefooted Quarter Horses Ranch Best Endurance Arabians
Because Arabian horses live throughout the world, you'll get different answers from different countries. There have been many famous Arabians both real and imagined, however one might argue that one of the most famous real horses is the Godolphin Arabian as a result of the book "King of the Wind" by Marguerite Henry.
All breeds of horses have less than 683 bones. Most horses have 205 bones, but the Arabian breed Êhas fewer because it has two less vertebrae, one less thoracic, and one less pair of ribs.
