A BA is a bachelor of arts degree, and it generally has 3 levels, which take 3 years full time to complete. An Honours Bachelor of Arts has 4 levels, and takes 4 years to complete full time. Basically, the honours is an extra year tacked onto a BA, where seminars, thesis options, more specialized courses are taken. An Honours degree can prepare you for graduate studies, teacher's college, and a myriad of other things. Or, if you love your subject so much you just don't want to stop learning about it after your BA, you can do your Honours BA. There is usually a minimum GPA you need to have to do your Honours, usually around a "B" average.
