They disagree on many policy issues: Mr. Romney is much more conservative, while Mr. Obama is center-left in his politics. Mr. Romney believes in limiting the role of the federal government; Mr. Obama believes there is a definite role for government to solve certain problems in our country. Mr. Romney believes that it is acceptable to give further tax cuts to the wealthy, as he believes the top 2% are the "job creators" and should be rewarded for their success; Mr. Obama believes the wealthy have more than their share of tax breaks and special loopholes, and that they are not paying their fair share.

Mr. Romney and Mr. Obama also disagree on social issues, for example federal funding for Planned Parenthood: like many conservative Republicans, Mr. Romney has said he wants to "get rid of it," while Mr. Obama believes it provides valuable services, especially to the poor. Mr. Romney is pro-life; Mr. Obama is pro-choice. Mr. Romney is fiscally conservative and has supported the out-sourcing of American jobs to other countries, as a necessary part of cost-cutting; Mr. Obama is pro-capitalism but he is opposed to out-sourcing and wants so see companies get tax breaks for bringing jobs back to America.
