Buddhists generally refrain from alcohol. Though some of us drink in moderation during parties and the like (I'll have a glass of Champagne at weddings with the toast to the Bride and Bridegroom).
The reason for this is that we do not want (a) to use alcohol as an escape from life and (b) Alcohol overindulgence leads to heedlessness and acts of body, speech and mind that we will regret later.
