Most Christians think this is a biblical doctrine.

The doctrine of the trinity is expressed by Jesus' words in the Great Commission:

Matthew 28:18-20 ................baptizing them in the name of the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit.

There are other clear indications of the Trinity in The Bible eg

2Co 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

There is no consistent position. In the fourth century most Christians were told the belief in the Trinity was an officially required position of the Christian Church, Not everyone agreed.To this date some groups called Nontrinitarians are not believers in this doctrine.
