In my opinion the word "galette" is a better, more generic description of a flat crusty cake. A crêpe is a type of thin French pancake, and would probably be used to say pancake in France.

I guess you meant pancakes. In French, we would say pancake. As simple as that. Otherwise, a more common treat here would be "crèpes", which are kind of pancakes, but much thiner, and wider.
the other word for pancake is used throughout Germany and France people may call it flat cake or splat pan but the true and only one i t is ............. pancakies or crepes in Romania they call it - CLATITE; in Slovakia they call it - PALACINKA; in Iceland they call it - pönnukaka and in Belarusian - блін :)
