Salut: January 6, which is 12 days after Christmas in the Gregorian calendar, is, not only the end of the Christmas holidays, but also the start of Carnivale which ends in some countries with Mardi Gras.

In France, Le Jour des Rois (the Day of Kings), sometimes called Le Fête des Rois, is celebrated with parties. The gallete des rois, or "cake of kings" (for the 3 wise men of The Bible), highlights the celebrations. This cake is round and flat and covered with a white napkin when brought into the room (although, I must admit, I do not know, or perhaps remember, why).
