The colors of the German flag are black, red, and gold.
The colors on the German flag came from the 1848 revolution, when people were advocating for a unified German Republic. They ended up failing, though the flag was adopted in 1871 when Germany unified--though many times up to that point people tried to discredit the colors. The Nazis got rid of the black-red-gold flag and replaced it with back, red, and white. After World War II, the black-red-gold flag was brought back, and today stands for the unity and freedom of the German people.
The current German flag was officially adopted in 1949. It consists of three horizontal stripes of black, red, and gold.
