I plugged the HDMI cable into the HDTV and into the PS3. Then I went to the settings for both the HDTV and the PS3 slim and set them for HDMI and sync. When it works right putting a disc into the PS3 will turn on the HDTV and also switch the HDTV over to that HDMI input rather than a cable box or similar item even if it was on the cable box when you last used the HDTV.
You don't. You either connect the PS3 to your HDTV with HDMI and the Comcast box to your HDTV with HDMI cables like I used to have or you connect the PS3 and Comcast Box with HDMI cables like I did to my home theater and then connect the home theater to the HDTV with a HDMI cable. My Comcast box is HD and I have a Sony HDTV and Sony Home Theater equipped with a HDMI repeater. As a last resort you could look to see if both have an S-video port.
