If you were to ask me, I would ask you in return: Why do you think that human existence has any meaning at all? Your existence, my existence, the existence of existence itself, is nothing more than lila, the play of God. Everything exists so that God can express Himself and enjoy that expression through you.

Other Hindus will answer your question differently. But that is what I would say.
