Any time an animal swallows a medicine that it should not have, call the vet immediately. It could be an emergency.
"Ointment" is pretty vague. It's generally a bad idea to put topical treatments such as ointments on animals, because they don't know they aren't supposed to lick them off. Take your dog to a vet, then follow the vet's advice.
You can use a topical antibiotic ointment, such as Neosporin or Bacitracin ointment. If the nail is torn down into the pad, or the bleeding does not stop within a few minutes, the wound may need a vet's attention.
My dog had an eye surgery, do I apply neomycin and polymyxin b sulfates bacitracin zinc opthalmic ointment usp to the eyelid where a growth was removed or to the eyeball itself?

IIs ir harmful to a dog to et Otibiotic ointment
I would definitely talk to your vet first, before you put a topical treatment on a dog. The ointment can be toxic, and if the dog licks it off, it could be harmful! Just give your vets office a call, and they will tell you over the phone, if it would be safe or not! The way I look at it, is it's always better to be safe than sorry!
What human ointment can be substuted for panalog ointment.
Yes you can use topical benadryll ointment for bug bites. If your dog ever has a severe allergic reaction you may also use a small dose of the children's liquid benedryll. Contact your vet for dosing instructions for your dog in particular.

It sounds like the dog has an eye infection. there is probably an ointment to apply, but it has to be prescribed by a vet. The best thing to do is take the dog to a vet.
