- Sometimes people want what they cannot have. You have known your male best friend for sometime and in that time you both could have had a love relationship, but did not. It is possible that now that your best friend has found a girl he loves you feel left out and you may not be spending the same amount of time with him as you are use too and feel left out and betrayed. There is a difference between liking someone and loving someone. You can like any person; then there is loving someone of the opposite sex as a sister or brother. Unless he has stated he is in love with you then you should leave your best friend and friend alone to get on with their relationship and you get on with your life because if you read more into what your best friend said to you 'liking you' you could well lose two good friends in the process. Give it some time and if he really loves you then it should be up to him to breakup the relationship with your friend and start dating you and if he does not then he likes you as a friend or loves you like a sister.
