did you cry a lot when he broke up with you the first time? did you keep asking him
why? he still wants to leave you but he feels trapped and guilt-ridden. honestly it would be better for both of you if you let him go. don't be a jerk about it, don't try to hurt him. you've got to be the bigger person here or you'll have to go through being dumped by him again when he gets the courage or finds the motivation to bail. we (as guys) find it easier to stay in our old routines and make the best of it rather than face confrontation and difficult questions (like 'why?' no one wants to get into that. if it's more your fault he's trying to spare your feelings, if it's more his fault he's trying to keep his conscience clear.) until we can't hide how we really feel or we just stop caring. you'd be much better just ending it on your own terms. that way you can keep your dignity and you both get out of an inevitably doomed relationship.
unless he cheated on you (or lied, or stole from you, or treated you like crap, or like you weren't there), then you shouldn't even be considering taking him back. i hope this helps in some way.
