Once Ralph, followed by Jack, had explored Castle Rock and determined that the beast was not there Jack and some of his hunters began toppling rocks from the cliff top. Some of the boys wanted to return to the shelters, others wanted to roll more rocks. Only Ralph saw the need to continue the hunt for the beast and to relight the signal fire. he insisted that they should go to the mountain top, where Samneric said that they had seen the beast.
Jack and his group want to start a fire on the mountain to attract passing ships in the hope of being rescued. They also plan to steal fire from Ralph's group to keep their own signal fire burning.

Chapter 6 of "Lord of the Flies" is titled "Beast from Air" because this is when the boys mistake a dead parachutist for a beast coming down from the sky. This event heightens their fears and symbolizes the increasing presence of savagery on the island.
In chapter eight of Lord of the Flies from Simon's point of view, he ventures alone into the forest and witnesses the parachutist's corpse. He realizes that the "beast" the boys fear is actually the dead pilot. He rushes back to tell the others, but is mistaken for the "beast" and tragically killed in a frenzied frenzy by the boys during a storm.
In Chapter 8, Simon discovers the "real" beast is a pig (sow) head on a stick, which is the Lord of the Flies... the lord of the flies also claims that the boys created the beast and everyone of the boys is a beast in himself.... In Chapter 9, the so called beast Samneric saw in earlier chapters and the same so called beast on top of the mountain that Roger, Ralph, and Jack saw is just a dead body of an airman in a parachute (Simon's discovery)... he then untangled the parachute lines...the wind caused the body to move like a puppet
