Muskrats are herbivores. They eat different kinds of plants such as: cattail, pickerelweed, bulrush, smart weed and many others. They also eat crops such as corn and anything low to the ground, such as cabbage and things like that. They often eat their young. I used to have several living in the lake behind my house. They are pesky creatures who can be very annoying. They aren't very loud, but they will eat anything and everything. I did research on them and they can eat up to twice their own body weight in a day. A fully grown male muskrat can weigh up to 25 pounds; however, females are much smaller. Hope this information helps. =D

Maskrats, also known as Orycteropus afer, are native to sub-Saharan Africa. They primarily inhabit a variety of environments, including savannas, grasslands, and open woodlands. These nocturnal mammals are known for their burrowing behavior, often creating extensive tunnel systems in sandy or loose soils. They are adaptable and can thrive in both dry and wetter regions.
