If your by yourself nothing but revere it and feel its power heal you and it certainly does have power. I myself will fall asleep or get really tired from reading the word of Allah. As far as reading it there is nothing you have to do like twiddle your fingers or recite it loudly. however if your leading prayer or reciting quran to others it must be done in a manner that is taught which is called tajwid. tajwid is the practice of reciting the quran in a professional manner which is taught by sheiks (religious leaders).
For Converts an easy way to perform the salaat is
(You can say it in your language too..)--
Standing facing the Qiblah. You say Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest). In the begining of the prayer while standing, bowing and sitting, you should say "subhaan allaah wal-hamdu lillaah wa-laailaaha illallaahu wallaahu akbar." (Glory be to Allah, and praise and thanks be to Allaah, and there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the most Great). You can say it in your language or in the natural arabic language. Finish the prayer by turning your head to the right then left, each time saying "as-salaamu alaikum." (Peace be upon you and The Mercy of Allah!) This way of performing salaat is the easy version for prayer and is allowable while you learn what should be said in each movement of salaat.
The Muslims read the Qur'an as one would any other book, excluding the fact that they normally perform ablution before holding it.
The Qur'an is written in Arabic, and as such, most Muslims are taught at Arabic at an early age, considering that it is not the primary language of many. If not, translations of the Qur'an are also widely read.
They should be on valid ablution before holding the holy book for reading. When reading the Quran, they should read thoughtfully, deliberately, and without any outside distractions.
They can read the Quran while wearing their shoes, if any.
If the question is about the way the Qur'an is interpreted and valued as a book, Muslims read the Qur'an as a "divine manual", in the sense that the words of the Qur'an are not seen to be a story or mythological construct, but rather a plan through which a person is to live his life. As a result, each verse is read carefully, methodically, and with attention to the scholarship surrounding the timing and reasoning for each verse's revelation.
If the question is about the vocal manifestation of reading the Qur'an, Muslims use a certain set of melodies called tajwid (تجويد) to sing the verses in a melodious way. The singing is designed both to accentuate the words and to glorify the message.
They recite it by heart, memorization(sometimes), and beautiful radiant voices.
They read Quran deliberately and thoughtfully and full faith and respect.
Muslims can read the Quran anytime, with a few exceptions.
