Puriri moth caterpillars are a pale delicate transparent purplish pink just before pupating however they become more creamy coloured. The head is a dark brown they are about 100mm long and 15mm in diameter.

∙ 9y agoLike all moths, the puriri moths start off as caterpillars. After a couple months, they burrow into the puriri tree and stay in it for about 7 years, when they turn into an adult moth. It dies shortly after reproducing.
