The Stoics provided a unified account of the world, consisting of formal logic, materialistic physics and naturalistic ethics. They emphasised ethics as the main focus of human knowledge, with the foundation of Stoic ethics that good lies in the state of the soul itself - in wisdom and self-control. Emphasis was also placed on love for all other beings.
The ancient school of philosophy known as Stoicism made many claims and had many teachings in all of the classical branches of philosophical knowledge. Its proponents (the Stoics) are known most widely today for their ethical view that humans do best to accept most of the suffering that they experience in life, rather than fight against it. Acceptance of pain and hardship will enable humans to endure; it will also prevent additional suffering from occurring (for example, such as might happen if one becomes angry, or questions whether there is truly justice in the world or, even worse, takes out one's frustrations on others).
Stoicism is an ancient school of philosophy founded by Zeno of Citium at Athens, Greece. The stoics believed that virtue was the highest good, and it is based on knowledge.
Stoic beliefs teach the developtment of self control and fortitude. They strive to overcome negative and destructive emoitions and have self control.
