I have cared for oppossums at the petting zoo where I work and also have rescued.
They are opportunistic omnivores, meaning, they'll eat just about anything.
Of course, they love cat food, dog food and the like, they LOVE grapes and cherries as well.
Try offering a sardine or two and you'll have a friend for life.
Baby possums rely on their mother's for food as they eat their mother's milk. As they get older, they begin to eat the same foods that their mother eats.
Not in North America!
Opossums are omnivores. This means they eat everything from plants to dead animals. They love insects and will often scrounge for things like pet food, trash, and birdseed.
