This would depend, of course, on the species of lizard in your backyard, and in what country your backyard is located. There are few poisonous or toxic lizards in the US. If you live elsewhere, that could be a different matter. Most of the toxic lizards in the US are located in the southwest part of the country. However, most of these animals, if not all, will be more startled and shy of human contact than the opposite. It is unlikely you or your child have much about which to be concerned.
