Well, the first thing they do is just like any baby animal would start to do: Breathe. Then they get a sense of their surroundings and experience the loving attention of their dams as they get cleaned off by the dam's tongue. This stimulates them to start to get to their feet. They also pass their first feces as they try to get on their feet. After numerous falls and trial and errors the calves get their feet under them and slowly and shakily make their way to their mother's udder. At first they may go to the wrong area, but with encouragement they finally make it, latch on and start suckling. Once they are satisfied, they lay down again for a nice, long sleep.
well on a dairy when they are just born they get fed from a bottle actually for a month but not on a dairy there probelly suck on there mothers utters
