Canaries,or Serinus canaria, is a type of finch. Finches are small birds that live off of seeds, fruits, and tiny insects. If you were so desperate as to go and collect these items, then I suggest you type in a new question like "where to find wild mealworms" or "how to extract the seeds from a sunflower without destroying the edible part". But I am not here to tell you either of these things, I am here to discuss how to care for a wild/domesticated canary.
Birdwatchers tend to need to know exactly what to feed a wild animal, so a good canary hunter always has 3 things.
1:sunflower seeds
2:craisins, raisins, or any other type of small fruit you can get
3: chopped up mealworms(when chopped, the mealworm's scent permeates the area, attracting the critters)
When "hunting" for wild canaries, one tries to look for the perfect place. Usually a field with low trees and bushes is where you will spot the bird. the tricky part is not finding them, the tricky part is getting them to come and eat off you plate. They tend to come eat faster if food is on a silver dish. The reflected light attracts the animals. If you are lucky( I don't recommend this) you can sneak up upon the bird and catch it in a butterfly net. The trouble is that you must now provide the bird with a cage, a drinking bowl, and more food. This isn't very good because the bird will now hate you. However, if you continue your relationship with the bird, it will come to like you in the coming months.
Happy Hunting!

Most people feed canary seeds and although the birds totally love seeds, they lack proper nutrition. Seeds do not contain the animal protein that they need, and it is lacking in some minerals and vitamins. In our aviary, the bulk (70-80%) of what our canaries are fed is Zupreem pellet food, that can be found in most pet shops. It is a completely nutritious pellet with no waste. The birds are conditioned to eat this from their second month on and when we obtain new birds, we slowly introduce them to this kind of food. The rest of the food is fresh green vegetables, corn on the cob, and sprouted seeds.
Canaries are not very picky about they eat, unlike parrots. Therefore, canaries can eat all sorts of fruits and veggies including apples just as long as the seeds are removed.

I think so
No. Canaries are seed eaters.

Canaries eat seeds. Diarrhea is definitely not in anyway seed like.
live it or not, they eat the shells (females do) because they have nutrients in them. i forgot what kind though.
The possessive noun for the singular word canary is canary's, e.g. "The canary's seed dish".The possessive plural form for many canaries would be canaries', e.g. "The canaries' seed dishes".
