What do cherry blossom mean?

It all depends what culture you are going with in relation to the overall motif of the piece.

To the Japanese, the Blossom represents the fragility and short span of life. The rationale being that a blossom is beautiful and flourishes for a short while till it then withers and dies. To the Chinese, it was more of a representation of feminine empowerment and beauty.
