Eagles typically prey on animals that are larger than what their smaller cousins, the hawks or buzzards (not vultures = buzzards, but the European buzzards = hawks) typically prey on, being mice, rats, and small birds. Eagles typically prey on fish, small deer, lizards as large as monitor lizards, snakes, hares, rabbits, young pigs, mice, rats, birds of nearly any size including owls and hawks, small dogs, cats, young of cougars, lynx and bobcats, young coyotes, alligator hatchlings, wolf cubs, etc.

Ultimately, though, what an eagle really eats depends on its species and where it lives.
Most eagles prey on small animals including rabbits, lizards, frogs, snakes, squirrels, oe other birds. Other species of eagle, like the bald eagle, prefer eating fish and turtles. Eagles will eat almost anything they can catch.
