They actually bind to a substrate as the term reactant is usually used in chemistry. They fit into what we call an active site just like a key will fit into a lock. The key must be the correct key or the reaction will not occur. So the enzyme is said to be specific for that substrate.

What does an enzyme combine with temporarily to help form products?

Substrates (the physical reactants in the reaction) and/or cofactors (additional molecules which help the reaction)

How does the enzyme subsrate help the enzyme work?

Substrates don't help enzymes to work. Without a substrate, an enzyme would have nothing to work on. A substrate is the substance acted on by an enzyme.

What function do these molecules on their capsids . What function do these molecules perform?

they help the virus attach to host celle Gradpoint/novanet ;)

How does enzymes help digsetion?

Digestive enzymes break down macromolecules into smaller, more soluble products of digestion. Proteases, lipases, amylase are some of these enzymes that digest particular substrates. Enzymes are catalysts, so without them, nutrients would not be digested quick enough for us to survive. They are quite literally, the difference between life and death.

Some viruses have special molecules on their capsids. what function do these molecules perform?

Molecules preform a few functions. The most important function is to layer the cells.
