They are all over the map but tend to be prejudiced in favor of their chosen specialty. You have to be strong and independent if you want to pursue alternative therapies. If you look though, you can sometimes find experts in your chosen alternative who can help you.

Different people have different opinions, though obviously those with scientific training like to see firm evidence that something actually works. In general, if you actually mean 'complementary' rather than 'alternative', many professionals are happy if a therapy will make the patient feel better, as long as it does not interfere with proven treatment.
