These words are commonly used when people are talking about mixtures. A heterogeneous mixture has different parts , that are easily separated, like a salid (olives, totmatoes, lettuce, etc.) all easily separated. A homogeneous mixture is different because the mixture is evenly distributed, or spread throughout, like lemonade (sugar, water, lemon juice) these are not easily separated.
