Before their latest addition, houses or buildings in Farmville don't have any uses. They're just there for viewing pleasure, just to make your farm look good.
But now the "Barn" and "Tool Shed" are now used as a storage. Barns can store up to 6 different items and the tool shed can store 2. If you have an item that you don't want to display any more in your farm you can store it and display again if you feel like to.
Houses and buildings can not be rotated at this time. So when you buy a house or building be prepared that it may not face the way you want it to.
