You can also fight a Shaymin in the game (and catch it) at the Flower Paradise if you have the Oak's Letter key item, but there is no way to obtain that item without the use of cheating.
In the US version of Pokemon Platinum, only a legitimate Shaymin obtained from the Toys R' Us event can trigger the girl in Floaroma Town to give you a Glacidea flower.
