Leukocytes are part of the body, not separate organisms. As such they obtain their energy by metabolizing the sugars in the blood stream to produce needed energy.
Strictly speaking, they do not "feed on" anything. They absorb and process sugars.
For the same reason YOU feed - to get energy in order to survive !
What is the chief function of leukocytes?
Bulldogs are pets. Their owners feed them.
feed them a crocodile hunter
living things feed in order to survive and they feed because food provides them with materials for energy and growth
The common name for leukocytes is white blood cells.
Leukocytes make antibodies.
it depends on the size of the household that you are trying to feed.... or what u mean by survive
Lice need to feed off of human skin to survive, because they are parasites and can only survive off of another being. It is a common misconception that they can survive alone. Without a site of human skin to feed off of, lice will only survive for 48 hrs and then they will die.
Leukocytes, or white blood cells, have varying lifespans depending on their type. Neutrophils typically last for a few hours to a few days, while lymphocytes can survive for weeks to years, especially memory cells. Monocytes circulate for about one to three days before differentiating into macrophages or dendritic cells, which can last longer. Overall, the lifespan of leukocytes is influenced by their function and the body's immune needs.
they feed on the animals living there
That's true. A lymphocyte is one particular type of leukocyte. There are quite a few different types of leukocytes.
