The CPU of a computer used to be a single processor on one micro-chip which performed all the necessary functions. Dual (and now quad) core processors have two (or four) processors on a single chip. This means the computer can process two (or four) instructions at the same time - making it much faster.
There are Celeron dual core processors today. However, just because you have Celeron processor, it does not mean your Celeron processor is a dual core processor. The easiest way to tell is to look at the Intel sticker on your computer. If it says "Dual Core," then it is dual core. If it does NOT say "Dual Core," then it is not dual core.
That can either mean a dual-socket machine with dual-core CPUs (two CPUs with two cores each) or a quad-core CPU (one CPU with four cores).
