The baby can suffer death in the womb. If even more unlucky, it could be born with it's intestines on the outside of it's deformed body.
It can suffer brain damage. Brain, spinal cord, heart and kidney are all affected. Some will be born without parts of their arms or leges.
They may be irritable and cry a lot. They may be born premature.
--- The last line is probably the most accurate. As for the other complications, they are POSSIBLE, but by no means likely. As bad of an idea as it is, lets not spread misinformation by saying the baby WILL have this or that. In fact, the vast majority of these babies do not have any readily apparent defects or problems. Could there be difficulties in learning or such that show up later? We don't know. This is something that requires study and research, not a knee-jerk melodramatic response.
The first trimester is most critical for the development of a baby. The babies brain is formed during the first trimester.
