Dublin is the most heavily populated area. Belfast and surrounding areas is also heavily populated. After that, the East coast from Belfast, to Newry, to Dundalk, to Drogheda, to Dublin and on to Wicklow is the main corridor of population. This trend will continue, as it is well served by road and rail links. A good website to find what these places are like to live in - according to people who actually live there - is [http://www.likeplace.ie/ www.likeplace.ie]. Other than that areas within about 50 miles of Dublin to the west and south-west are heavily populated. The middle of the country is less populated than the edges. Overall population density in Ireland is very low compared to European norms. There is nothing that compares to the UK midlands conurbation, the Randstad in the Netherlands or the Ruhr Valley.
