Onion and garlic have natural antibiotic agents. So they can help your immune system fight bacteria and viruses. Onions and garlic have more nutritional value when they are mildly cooked than raw.

From my personal research, yes.

When i am feeling sick i never turn to medicines, i turn to jarred silver skin onions!

I don't quite know why this helps, but i think it is to do with...

The onions soaking up the white vinegar that the onions are soaking in, this is because of the vinegar being trapped under the layers. Then once eaten and digested the onion releases the vinegar into the stomach acids. This stops the acids churning and keeps them at bay.

This is my personal research so it may not work for you!

There are no scientific studies to indicate this is true. The best prevention for the flu virus is a flu vaccination along with use of good hand washing and respiratory etiquette.
