Ancient civilizations put clothes and riches and goods and yum yums in tombs, because they believed that in the afterlife, the stuff would go with the people. In modern day, they put clothes on people in coffins, because they want to make it look nice for the viewing and the funeral.
mummies were put in tombs and the tombs needed somewhere to go so the Egyptian people made pyramids..... Although I have no idea why they called it pyramids though.
