Best Answer

The balanced chemical equation for photosynthesis is.

12 H2O + 6 CO2 =in the presence of sunlight & chlorophyll= 6 H2O + 6 O2 + C6H12O6

As you can see water (H2O) and carbon di-oxide (CO2) are needed in the presence of sunlight and chlorophyll.
A plant needs these for photosynthesis:
sunlight
water
chlorophyll
carbon dioxide

Quite simply, plants need CO2 (carbon Dioxide), water, and sunlight.

Photosynthesis takes place in the leaves of the plant, specifically the palisade cells, which contain the chloroplasts needed for photosynthesis (these contain chlorophyll, the chemical which makes theleaves appear green).

Water is taken up through the roots, via transpiration, while CO2 is collected through pores at the base os the leaf called stomata.

the equations for photosynthesis are:

Carbon dioxide+Water+Light energy > Glucose+ Oxygen

6CO2+6H20+ Sunlight > C6H12O6+6O2
