Best Answer

Insects, small crustaceans. Whatever small animal life can be found on their mudflat and pastureland habitats. Most plovers are shorebirds, but others like the killdeer tend to be found inland, where the lay their eggs in the open, concealed only by the cryptic coloration. Additional Info: The Plover is widely spread throughout the US with about 40 species in it's subfamily. They hunt by sight, in short rapid burst of speed, in a run and pause style. As said above insects, worms, and any other invertabets are eaten depending on the habitat for the bird.
