Roses need full sun and a lot of water to grow. Roses can grow in just about any type of soil. Roses do need a lot of care to thrive. Cutting away dead branches and flowers is a must for the roses to flourish.

That depends on the variety, but in general they like 70-85F in summer, and above about 25F in winter. Hotter than that they can survive but need watering more often. Too cold and there may be some die back of branches, but new shoots can still come up from down low. Since many are grafted onto different root stock, the roses on such new shoots may be a different variety if they came up from below the graft.

When you buy a plant the label should show the USDA hardiness zone. You should look yours up, and buy only plants that will survive there. The hardiness zone is the average minimum temperature.
