A sea gull would be hard pressed to prey on sparrows. The smaller bird always has the advantage when it comes to evasive maneouvres. The Sea gull is not equiped with talons or a beak to catch anything with. It is hard to imagine a Gull holding onto anything. If a sparrow were already dead then a Gull would eat it though.
