The tires on the sides of the tugboat prevent damage to boats being guided by the tug if it should bump against them. They also prevent damage to the tug from bumping against seawalls and so on.
Structures built to protect beaches
Compare and contrast seawalls and groins
Erosion affects and shapes the entire world. From the mountains to the coast, erosion is evident everywhere. Since erosion is unavoidable, the problem becomes discovering ways to prevent it. Present beach erosion prevention methods include sand dunes, vegetation, seawalls, sandbags, and sand fences.
sea walls can fight against erosion and wave damage
Build groins and seawalls is one example of what you can do.
all costal areas that lack a natural barrier. ie..Reef, Mountain Range..etc...
Erosion will occur eventually, the water will eventually break through the sea wall and start eroding the houses built behind it. Sea walls are also very expensive to build, they take up a lot of the money from the local government, which means that taxes will increase for the residents in that particular area.
People have constructed seawalls in some areas to help reduce their impact, but these waves can't realy be controlled.
Shorelines can be protected from erosion by jettys, bluffs, and seawalls.*jetty-a pier or structure of stones, piles, or the like, projecting into the seaor other body of water to protect a harbor, deflect the current, etc.bluff-a cliff, headland, or hill with a broad, steep faceseawall-a protective structure of stone or concrete; extends from shore intothe water to prevent a beach from washing away
the advantages are that they help slow down erosion and thedisadvantages are they are so expensive to build
By military geniuses as Stadholder Maurits van Oranje and Frederik van Oranje, the Dutch also used there environment good, like breaking the seawalls so the Spanish couldn't move further.
