Well, depending on whether it's a aquatic snail or land snail, I'd say put in soil with lettuce or cabbage leaves in your snail's home if it's a land snail, and fill the tank with pebbles/sand and water as well as seaweed or lettuce for an aquatic snail.

Well, it depends on which snail, but I will explain both.

LAND SNAIL: These snails love to go up and up and up and up, so to take care of them, I suggest to put them in a container with a lid. You have a choice of covering the floor with rocks or dirt, and either doesn't matter, but dirt is easier to clean up (just throw it away) then rocks (you need to clean all the rocks off). Then there is food. Land snails like to eat all kinds of vegetables, so you can put in lots of lettuce, carrots, and experiment with what they can eat too. I suggest putting a little bowl with VERY SHALLOW AMOUNT OF WATER IN IT! (We don't want the poor snails to drown). Give them some places for them to hide and go in. I put a little bridge in there, and they enjoy going under it.

WATER SNAIL: These snails, really, don't need much. Just put them in a water tank and a filter, too (water snails are EXTREMELY dirty),and feed them about once daily (with sinkable fish pellets).

So this is all I know-or at least what I am doing to my OWN snails I am taking care of currently right now.
