Some steroids are used to treat chronic diseases such as Asthma as well as Arthritis. These steroids may be called systemic steroids.
Some side effects from systemic steroids may include:
-higher risk of getting skin diseases/fungal infections, sensitivity to sunlight, dry mouth, acne, decreased energy, fatigue, sleep disturbance , increase in appetite and weight, etc.
In the case of anabolic steroids (used for body-building)
Some side effects could result to:
-hypertension, high cholesterol levels, higher risk of heart disease, infertility, baldness in women, reduced sexual functioning, smaller genitalia, etc.
