Santa Claus is called Weihnachtsmann in German. In more religious families the Christkind (christ child) is coming instead. Sometimes the Christkind is depicted as a little angelic child (with wings) that is assisting the Weihnachtsmann.
We also have the Nikolaus (St. Nick), also called Knecht Ruprecht, who will leave a small gift and sweets in your shoes the night from the 5th to the 6th of December but only if you've been a good child and cleaned your shoes.
