Not necessary, depending on each Sikhs desire and longing, it depends how much he or she is going to attend or visit the Gurudwara. Also, depends if Gurudwara is around the place a Sikh live.
In a Sikh Gudwara they do not serve meat in their Langar as they feel it will not be fair to those who don't eat meat e.g. because of their religion. Instead they serve non-meat substances like vegetables, fruit ,ect. Sikhs don't have to not eat meat. They can eat anything really but if they are a very strict Sikh they might not eat meat because of their own interpretation of their religion. Sikhs can choose what they want to eat.
It's called a Gurdwara. And might I remind you that a Church is itself the name, for the place where Christians worship. Like this, the Gurdwara is where Sikhs worship.

You are showing courtesy , because you take into consideration that the holy scripture of the Sikhs is an accumulated knowledge of over 300 years old . You are also showing veneration & reverence , because it is inline with the thinking , that if we hold a knowlegde in high esteem , then there is a greater chance that we shall learn from it
it is the room were the Guru Granth Sahib is in. In that room you have to have your head covered and no shoes. That shows respect to the holy book. After, you may go down to the langer hall and get home made FREE food. Believe me I'm a Sikh so I go to the Gurwara every Sunday. Hope this helps!
Sikh's can generally eat anything and do not have any dietary taboo's. Baptised Sikhs are not allowed to eat "Kutha" meat, or meat that has been ritually slaughtered. Those Baptised Sikh's that eat meat only eat Jhatka meat or meat that has been killed quickly. Some Sikh's that follow religious sects like Akhand Kirtani Jatha, GNNSJ, Raronwale are lacto-vegetarians.
