They are usually called "Rub Rails" (They are there to provide extra protection to the body of the bus) but they also have another purpose.
Typically they are placed at shoulder level, seat level, and floor level.

Those black stripes that run along the sides & back of the school bus are actually metal “rub rails”, and they act as an extra layer of protection for the thin wall panels of the vehicle.

They give strength to the side panels to help prevent them from being forced inwards should it be in a collision. They could of painted them any color, but a school bus is universally known as yellow and black. Plus it makes the vehicle alot more noticable on the road, which they want.

It depends what kind of bus it is. If it is a used bus with mold and dird inside of it then it is 20,000. If it is a new wolfington bus that is clean and has a nice ride with a GPS and features and a black sripe with a white roof and a black floor with black siding for windows and has tinted windows with an easy steering wheel and automatic doors with air contitioning and fans and comfortable seats that has cupholders and is a school bus, then it is 80,000. That is cheep for a nice bus. i go on one of those kind of busses for camp. its awesome. there are bigger ones that is a school bus that looks like a coach bus and has the same features. they are 150,000.
