Leroy Neiman completed his painting titled "Rocky and Apollo" in 1977. This artwork was inspired by the iconic boxing match between the characters Rocky Balboa and Apollo Creed from the film "Rocky." Neiman's vibrant and dynamic style captured the energy of the scene, contributing to the film's cultural impact. The painting became one of Neiman's most recognized works.

Hi! In regards to the painting you refer to of Rocky fighting Apollo: Neiman also created an energetic piece that was used for the closing credits of Rocky III which captures the final frame of the film - when Rocky and Apollo Creed are just about to swap blows. This piece, an original, has never been reproduced or offered as a print, however the "Rocky Portrait" was at one time available as a lithograph. I would speculate that the reason for this piece not being available in a lithograph, or even a serigraph, perhaps has to do with the possibility of the maker of the movie having bought the rights to the painting. You may view the painting here, however, along with more information regarding the "Rocky" paintings: http://www.totalrocky.com/fastfacts/lero... Neiman's style is fantastic, however! To guess by the lyre, the god is either Apollo or Hermes; and the goddess is Athena, who is armored and holds a shield with Medusa's head.
There was no Apollo 6. The first manned Apollo mission was Apollo 7. The first Apollo mission to go to the moon was Apollo 8, the first to land was Apollo 11.
The missions that landed on the moon as part of NASA's Apollo program were Apollo 11, Apollo 12, Apollo 14, Apollo 15, Apollo 16, and Apollo 17. These missions successfully landed astronauts on the lunar surface between 1969 and 1972.
Zero. Apollo 11 was the first attempt to land men on the moon.
No. Both the Apollo cinemas and the Apollo space craft were named after the Greek God Apollo.
