One of the reasons is to make the parents aware of that the child is fine being there and also that they see what is going on in their child's life. It makes the parent more aware on their child's;

- needs

- capacity as a student

- ability to socialize with others

- progress

- possible need for assistance in certain areas

How children act outside the home with others is usually very different from when staying at home with the parents.

Most parents who visit a daycare center do so in order to check it out and make sure that it is safe, clean, well-staffed, and has good teachers. They expect to find out if the particular center is the right one for their child. But if you are asking what parents hope their child will learn at daycare, there is no one answer to this question. Some daycare centers offer activities and even teach the children some basic skills like numbers or the alphabet. But other daycare centers mainly provide child-care while the parent is at work.

What kind of daycare center the child attends will depend on the parents' income-- the more elaborate daycare centers, the ones that take kids on field trips and also teach them, will be more expensive, and not everyone can afford them. How much the child learns also depends on his or her age: obviously, it's not easy to teach an infant about the alphabet, so the daycare center needs to offer age-appropriate activities. There is a wide disparity in the quality of daycare centers. Some states monitor these facilities very carefully and make sure they have trained personnel who are providing the best service; but other states barely monitor them at all, and some of the teachers may not even have any training. Again, that is why parents like to see the daycare facility before deciding to send their child there.
