They - nor the word that describes them - did not 'stand for' anything special at the time. They were just burial monuments of a limited number of pharaohs. The word 'pyramid' has much later, Greek roots. The Egyptian word for them according to many Egyptologist, just meant 'tomb'.
Most pharaohs by the way did not get buried in pyramids. They were buried in the Valley of the Kings, in large tombs hacked out in the mountainside.

Pyramids stand up due to their unique shape and structural design, which distributes weight evenly across their base. The wide base provides stability, while the sloping sides reduce wind resistance and help prevent the structure from toppling. Additionally, the use of strong materials, such as stone, and precise engineering techniques contribute to their durability and longevity. This combination of geometry and material strength enables pyramids to endure for centuries.

There are various types of pyramids, including regular pyramids (with a regular polygon as the base and congruent isosceles triangles as the faces), right pyramids (with the apex directly above the center of the base), and oblique pyramids (where the apex is not directly above the center of the base). Pyramids can also be classified based on the shape of their base, such as square pyramids, triangular pyramids, pentagonal pyramids, etc.
