Any part of the steering system on a car, be it rack-and-pinion, power or not, includes tie-rods, knuckles, steering column coupler, ball joints. Modern cars have electric steering, but still need couplings and knuckles.
ball joints are common on most steering system and provide a controllable link to the other steering components.
A shimmy in the steering wheel while driving indicates that your tires have worn incorrectly as a result of improper alignment. have your tie-rods, and ball joints checked and replaced if needed. Then have your car aligned.
the joints at the connecting rod, pitman arm and steering arm are worn out
Worn-out ball joints in the steering linkage or suspension. This allows the steering angle between the wheels to vary, causing them to wobble.
Failing power steering pump, lack of power steering fluid, defective pittman arm, defective upper and/or lower control arms, worn ball joints.
With the aid of ball joints and steering joints, the knuckle allows the spindle to move up and down for suspension, rotate left and right for steering.
Change upper and lower ball joints the factory ball joints have no fitting for lube. The aftermarket one do
It is time for a professional car mechanic to have a look. The steering may be caused by dry joints (needs greasing), the revs may need the engine to be adjusted to run slower.
It is posable to have bad ball joints. Get it checked IMMIDIATLY!
Check you suspensoin and steering components: ball joints, tie rods, control arms and stabilizer bar bushings, steering rack moorings. strut tower bolts, etc.
They can cause excess wear to steering and suspension components, such as drag links, tie rods, ball joints, and the Pitman arm.
