A lot of kids and teenagers join gangs because they don't have a good family life. They don't have enough of security at home or something like that. Some kids feel pressurized to join a gang because they get threatened. There have been instances that other kids say if that person doesn't join this gang he'll kill their entire family. Believe it or not, gang members rape, kill, steal etc. It's not pretty. ):
that may be true but no one is threated to join a gang one can be hoped in a gang with out wanting to that's part of the gang

By not joining any gangs at all.
by saying you shouldn't do it
Joining gangs is dangerous and is not a joke. People get hurt and even face serious charges in the long run. Most of the time gangs don't get a good education and skip school and sports. Think twice or thrice before joining a gang!
to deal with not joining gangs you have got to ignore them if you ignore them they will ignore you that way you wont get bullied in to being a gang member
They want to be tough by joining gangs that are very cool.
no we need to do more no, we need more!
What they get is exactly why they join the gangs. They get the feeling of a family, money, power, respect, and women of their choice, unless they don't care about that.
You could die because of what they call hazing . And threats too , by other gangs .
There are many programs in place that prevent children from joining gangs in San Francisco. There is an estimated 250-500 new young gang members a year.
It is because of many reasons. People who grow up in ghettos more than likely have a hard time in life with family, finances, schooling, gangs, and more. Because of these problems, some look to gangs as a family unit to make up for the absence of family at home. They look to gangs as a means to make money with criminal activity, and a way to be taken care of. They look to it as a way to learn the streets they have to live with everyday and since they may be falling behind in school, or they believe there is no way out of 'hood life no matter how well they do academically. They look to gangs because gangs may intimidate them into joining or else they'll hurt them and/or their love ones, or another gang is already harassing them, so they feel they have protection with joining up with another. And then there are those who just would rather cause chaos and do nothing more in life than that. It should be noted that people from the ghetto aren't the only ones who create gangs. There are many suburban gangs as well.
People who feel protected when they are around someone who is popular or people are afraid of. Sometimes they join gangs so that they are not bullied them selves or they don't want to get hurt and by joining a gang it makes them look cool and tough and not afraid......... hope this is the answer you are looking for x x
